About
THE BOOK
A fascinating eyewitness account of US- Pakistan relations, especially after the September 11 attacks on America, by an individual who had unique access to the decision makers both in Washington as well as Pakistan. The book objectively documents the ups and downs of the tumultuous relations between the United States and Pakistan ever since Pakistan’s Independence in 1947. It explains the American War in Afghanistan in which Pakistan was an ally but wasn’t trusted and the reasons America couldn’t win in Afghanistan despite militarily eliminating Al Qaeda and the Taliban initially.
It is a highly readable memoir which also traces the evolution of the Pakistani American diaspora and its coming of age over the last fifty years. Besides, the author candidly discusses the reasons for the dismal Human Development indicators of Pakistan and his efforts with the support of Pakistanis globally to improve the state of affairs through a unique public-private partnership created to help Pakistan achieve the Millennium Development Goals, now called Sustainable Development Goals.
It is a must-read book not only for students and practitioners of International relations but also for human development specialists.
